OLD BUSINESS
Wilder Creek—we have a closing date of September 27, 2007 if everything goes as
planned. We have chosen the new name of Eckford Township Wilder Creek
Park. W. Cornell suggested we meet on Sept. 24, 2007 if we
need to if there are any changes to the contract that need to be discussed.
K. Hinkley will post the meeting and let each of the board members know.
So far the stipulations of the Eckford Township Board are: 1) comply
with our guidelines, 2) sign the contract will all their board members 3) have
the dates that they will need for the 2008 calendar year by Dec. 1, 2007.
Todd Bishop, we are still having trouble with getting the information that we
need. Bruce found a new inspector named John Gross. He is also
working for Sheridan, Lee and Albion Townships. He fills in for the City
of Battle Creek as well. T. Baylis made the motion to release the services
of Todd Bishop effective October 1, 2007 and replace Todd with the services of
John Gross. K. Hinkley seconded the motion. CARRIED K. Hinkley
will send Todd Bishop a letter and B. Rapp will call him as well.
Propane Services, we will have W. Thomas bring in the quotes for our October
meeting so the board can decide which company we should change to.
Internet Service, T. Baylis and K. Hinkley will do some more research on our
internet service as it is very slow and the possibilities of getting high-speed
cable are very slim.
Calhoun County Compost Center, we have had several residents complain that they
cannot dump at the Compost Center since the County Solid Waste Committee has
decided not to fund it anymore. There was a meeting of the CC Solid Waste
Comm. today, Sept. 17 at 4:30. K. Hinkley did attend the meeting and the
CCSWC did decide to fund the Compost Center until the end of this 2007-year that
it is open. This means that all county residents can use the Compost Center
until then. The CCSWC will then decide what it will do for the next year
since there has been such a public outcry throughout the county.
Bruce has suggested that we could use some County property where the old dump
was at J. Drive S. and 23 Mile Road. We could have it open on Saturday’s
for our township residents. We will see what is done at the county level
for next year and then decide.
NEW BUSINESS
Resolution 2007-6, The J. & S. Kiessling Gravel Pit, B. Rapp read the
resolution. W. Cornell made the motion accept Resolution 2007-6 for the J.
& S. Kiessling Gravel Pit. T. Baylis seconded the motion. CARRIED
John McAuliffe our Electrical Inspector has sent us a new permit fee schedule.
He would like to use the same prices as the state. The Board decided to go
an Administrative fee of $20 per permit per inspector to make everyone the same
and help cover some of the Townships expenses. W. Cornell made a motion to
approve the new fee schedule for the Electrical permits. K. Hinkley
seconded the motion. CARRIED
