ECKFORD TOWNSHIP of
CALHOUN COUNTY
Organizational Budget Meeting
March 24, 2008
Supervisor B. Rapp called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. Others
in attendance were T. Baylis, K. Hinkley, W. Thomas and W. Cornell.
T. Baylis read the income accounts with the estimated amounts for the end of the
2008 fiscal year. The board then went over the recommended amounts that
would be needed for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. It looks like with the
amount of the revenue sharing checks we have been receiving that our township
should be looking better than originally estimated. This will help with
our fire dept. expenses for this next fiscal year. The board will continue
to evaluate our fire coverage budget for the next few years to make sure the
funds will be there to cover the increasing expense to pay for three (3) fire
departments.
The board then went over each expense item and made changes where the board felt
were necessary to help keep our budget in check for the next fiscal year.
Discussion about the condition of our roads was another area that the board
decided to not fund for the 2008-2009 budget year. The condition of all
the road in our township and county was one reason and the other reason was the
change of directorship at the Calhoun County Road Commission. Several
members voiced their unhappiness with the job we have been getting the last few
years from the Road Commission. This will help our budget for this next
fiscal year and then we can see where the roads are in a year and come back to
this discussion at that time.
A motion to adjourn was made by K. Hinkley at 8:00 p.m.
