ECKFORD TOWNSHIP of

CALHOUN COUNTY

March 16, 2009

Supervisor Rapp called the Special meeting of the Eckford Township Board to order at 8:00 p.m.  Others in attendance were T. Baylis, W. Cornell, K. Lawrence, K. Hinkley, D. Masternak, A. Blight, R. Buskirk, R. & L. Dunn, M. Delaney, J. Dobbins, B. & G. Bursley, S. Hinkley T. Cook, K. Clark R. Masternak, D. Guilford, P. Damon, I Swan & B. & wife Cowles.

A special meeting of the Eckford Township Board was held to discuss the adoption of the proposed adoption of the Housing Law Ordinance.  “Blight” Ordinance and “Junk Vehicle” Ordinance.

There were many concerns about the “Blight’ and “Junk Vehicle” Ordinance and the enforcement of these ordinances.  J. Dobbins asked if there have been a lot of resistance to this ordinance?  He believed it is a good thing for the township and probably overdue.  He also asked if we have an Ordinance Enforcement officer now?  Yes, we do as of March 1, 2009.  R. Masternak voiced his concern that neighbors would be looking in each others back yards to find fault with them.  W. Cornell read part of the Code Enforcement Officer contract which states that he will not be seeking out places but that he is authorize to receive complaints from the Zoning Ordinance when one has been made to the Zoning Ordinance Officer, R. Buskirk.  K. Clark asked what the standards were for farmers versus others?  W. Cornell stated that there was a difference for farmers than the rest.  T. Cook stated that garbage is garbage.  But people might think their equipment isn’t garbage and their neighbor might think that it is and want to push the envelope.

The township board tried to reassure that they were not trying to actively search people out but these ordinances are a must for the times in which we live in.

With no other discussion the meeting was adjourned at 8:19 by a motion from K. Hinkley.  CARRIED

Respectfully submitted by,
