ECKFORD TOWNSHIP of
CALHOUN COUNTY
January 21, 2008
The regular monthly meeting of the Eckford Township Board was called to order at
8:00 p.m. by Supervisor Bruce Rapp. Others in attendance were K. Hinkley,
T. Baylis, W. Cornell, W. Thomas, J. Fuller, R. Dunn, R. Buskirk, A. & K. Clark,
T. Clark, M. Parker, A. Blight and S. Bosserd.
Supervisor Rapp led the group in the pledge and T. Baylis gave the invocation.
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the December 17, 2007 Regular Monthly
meeting and the Dec. 17, 2007 Election Commission Minutes were approved by T.
Baylis and supported by W. Thomas. CARRIED
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
T. Baylis, Treasurer gave the financial statement with:

W. Cornell made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report and pay all the bills.
K. Hinkley seconded the motion. CARRIED
HOMER FIRE BOARD REPORT
Given by W. Thomas, the board will be conducting interviews for the new fire
chief and their decision will be sent to the village manager. The three
final candidates are Kurt Swope, Lloyd Mosher and William Christenson. All
three candidates are very qualified for the job.
MARSHALL FIREFIGHTERS AMBULANCE REPORT
Given by W. Thomas, there was no December meeting.
ZONING REPORT
Given by B. Rapp, there were no permits issued this month and Dave could not be
here tonight.
PLANNING COMMISSION
Given by R. Dunn, the PC started going over the Blight Ordinance and they have
assigned sections to different members of the commission to work on them.
Karen Clark and her neighbors the Fullers were in attendance to the meeting to
talk about the issue of the semi trailers that are parked on the Clark’s
property which has become a hindrance in the selling of the Fuller’s home.
The PC is looking at the Zoning and it looks as if the Clark’s are in violation
of the Township’s Ordinance and will have to move the trailers. The PC
will continue to work on the Blight Ord. for the next meeting.
LIBRARY REPORT
Given by R. Dunn for Lynda, the card catalog system is up on running on the
Library’s website. It has many interesting features---please check it out.
MARENGO FIRE REPORT
A. Blight and S. Bosserd from Marengo Fire Dept. came to share their 2007 year
end report with our township board. They had 20 total runs for the year.
There were 6 medical runs which was for just half of the year. They also
invited our board to their year end party which will be on Saturday, January 26,
2008 at 6 p.m.

COMMUNICATIONS
A list of communications were distributed and attached to the monthly minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
Fire Departments: B. Rapp and K. Hinkley will meet with each individual
Fire Chief and talk over any other options for our Fire coverage dilemma and
they will report back to the Township board on their discussions.
The new propane tank and service will start on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.
W. Thomas stated that they would be delivering it at 9 am.
NEW BUSINESS
The Eckford Township Board can appoint another member to the Homer Fire Board as
W. Thomas instructed us at last months meeting. Steve Hinkley has been
asked to accept the position and he has accepted. T. Baylis made motions
to appoint Steve Hinkley to the Homer Fire Board. W. Cornell seconded the
motion. There were 4 Yea votes, 0 Nay votes and K. Hinkley abstained from
voting. CARRIED
K. Hinkley presented the option of using the Alltel Wireless Co. as an Internet
Service Provider. We can get a USB stick to plug into our computers and
get high speed internet service. K. Hinkley will be checking into a
possible government rate for the township.

A motion was made to adjourn by W. Thomas at 8:20 p.m. and seconded by K.
Hinkley. CARRIED
