December 3, 2007

The Eckford Township Special Board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Rapp at 6:30 p.m.  Also in attendance were T. Baylis, W. Thomas, K. Hinkley, W. Cornell, B. Boyd, K. Warner and R. Cavender.

Fredonia--$14,000
Marengo--$9,500  ($6,000 truck fund)
Homer--$22,000

T. Baylis shared that we are about $20,000 short on our budget and we cannot keep taking out of our Investment Fund.

If we were to ask for .5 mil for a Fire Millage that would generate $25, 000 a year.

Homer Fire Dept. consists of:
            Homer Village
            Clarendon
            Homer Twp.
            Eckford Twp.

Homer Fire calls as of 11-25-07 were 20 calls1 fire, 5 medicals and 14 misc.

We need to see a line item budget from all three (3) departments to be able to compare the costs for each dept.

At the rate things are going for our budget we would not be able to fund any road for 2008-2009.  Maybe we should put something in our newsletter about our budget and the road situation.   There is also the option of looking into having 2.5 miles worked on instead of 5 miles of roads.  We could also change our capital from $15, 000 to $5,000.

At 7:30 p.m. the board met with Fredonia Fire Dept. with Chief Phil Damon and Asst. Chief Inman.

Questions asked by the board were as follows:

Pg.2

How much do the firemen get on a run? A $20 per person with an avg. of $80 a call.

What does your station #2 cost to run?  Not really sure.  Fredonia is looking into getting a new building for station #2.

Eckford had 20 runs so far this year, 16 fire/accidents and 4 medicals.  They started medicals in May.  There were 105 total runs for Eckford and Fredonia for 2007.

Fredonia runs on a budget of about $60,000.  The next truck they are looking to replace is the 1983 single axle pumper.

How many firemen from Eckford twp. are on the Fredonia fire dept.?  There are 5 from Eckford with a total of 20 firemen total.

Fredonia has a 1 mil millage for their newest fire truck.

Fredonia does cover Eaton’s.  Maybe we should see if Eaton’s would be able to contribute to our fire fund.

Adjournment was called by B. Rapp at 7:56.

Respectfully submitted by,

Kimberly Hinkley
Eckford Township Clerk
